Stockholm University Nursing Scholarship Program


The Nursing Scholarship Program project requires the ability to work independently in addition to collaborative skills and creative thinking. Since the project is part of international collaborations good oral and written communication skills in English are required. Furthermore, since the student is expected to participate in the activities of the Stockholm University Astrobiology Centre, the ability to communicate over the boundaries of one’s own discipline is required.

Terms of employment

The 4 year PhD Nursing Scholarship Program position is financed initially with a study grant (‘utbildingsbidrag’) followed by a salaried position (‘doktorandanställning’). It may be possible to extend the positions up to 5 years by taking 20 % institutional duties.

The Nursing Scholarship Program position is open to all nationalities who at the start of the position have the equivalent of a Masters degree in astronomy or physics. The starting date for the position is flexible but no later than November 1, 2011.

Nursing Scholarship Program Applications should include

an application form (can be downloaded at http://astrobiology.physto.se),
a copy of the certificate of your undergraduate studies,
a list of courses attended and grades achieved (Swedish students should send their “Examensbevis”),
a curriculum vitae including a list of publications (if applicable) and
a short letter of motivation.

Furthermore, you are required to ask 2 referees to send a letter of reference directly to the address below. Do not send them by yourself with the application.

Schwallie Family Nursing Scholarship Program


The Organization for Autism Research (OAR) holds an annual Schwallie Family Nursing Scholarship Program Competition to support qualified individuals with autism or Asperger Syndrome residing in the United States pursuing post-secondary education. OAR will present awards of $3,000 each across three categories: 1) Four-year undergraduate college or university; 2) Two-year undergraduate college, and; 3) Trade, technical or vocational school. These Nursing Scholarship Program will be one-time awards for any recipient.

Eligibility: Any individual with an established autism or Asperger Syndrome diagnosis and who will be attending an accredited institution of higher education in the United States for the Fall 2011/Spring 2012 semesters is eligible to apply. Eligible individuals need to be enrolled on at least a part-time basis (6 credits) or be working toward certification or accreditation in a particular field (e.g., studying to be a paralegal). Past recipients of a Schwallie Family Nursing Scholarship Program or immediate family members of any person serving on OAR’s Board of Directors or Scientific Council are not eligible to apply.
